Talk about a blast from the past.

Do you guys recalling playing the very first version of Championship Manager.

To think back then DOS games was da bomb yeah! The large 5.25 inch floppy disk and don’t even mention the small drive capacity.

Compared to current times, it’s a joke of course, but still I’m feeling nostalgia, so I decided to install CM93/94.

I played the English league and unlike my CM2 game which has problem installing on my XP desktop; I had none for CM93/94.

Although I was buggered by the usage of full-screen every time the game loads. I did chose and set it in Windows as an option, but it just won’t load in Windows form.

So I used DOSBox. It’s a free DOS emulator for playing old DOS games on current OS such as Vista, XP, etc.

The DOSBox allowed me to play the game in widows mode, much ‘easier’ for me to flip through my other programs that I’m using.

The thing is I work and play at the same time, I like to multi-task. Just don’t get caught by the boss!

Anyway the installation was a synch. Under two minutes of complete installation in total. Very fast indeed.

But for saving games, CM93/94 does take sometime. Not that long, but still there’s some waiting time.

I chose Everton as my team of choice. I still recall the team having a young David Unsworth and the legendary goalie Southall back in the 90’s.

It wasn’t that hard learning the CM93/94 gaming interface, pretty straight forward. Similar to other CM & FM future games, mainly mouse clicking to choose an option.

The game is pretty direct and simpler. No reserve or youth team and media reports to worry about. You just need to play the game match by match.

That’s the thing, its too simple for me, there’s not much of attachment or addiction level to it, but I’ll still keep on playing it as I suck at it. And I hate losing.

First two matches, I lost 0-2 to Liverpool and lost a goal to Aston Villa in the next match. Bugger!

I did buy a Swiss defender to bolster my defence and Scotsman John Collins to beef up my midfield. Cost me a total of £1.25 million.

Hope I’ll have better luck in the next game!
