CM97/98 Glory Days

It seems my prior installation of CM2 was a failure. Well not on my part but desktop PC hardware wise.
The darn game just wouldn’t install on an XP OS, despite all my attempts installing it.
But the CM97/98 installation went without any problems. I got it up and running in minutes.
I can still recall countless hours spent on playing this game when I should be studying during my secondary school days.
It sure brought back plenty of old memories.
For the game, I chose 16MB game and didn’t choose to patch it. I stayed with v2.81 for now.
I took control of the unpredictable Southampton team. To my horror, I found out my star player Le Tissier was out for a few months at the start of the game. Blimey!
So I took upon to bolster the team. I released two low valued youth players and used my £4 million pounds transfer kitty wisely.
I knew I can’t splurge as the big-boys. My team is weak in all areas it seems, from the keeper to the striker.
I brought in three new foreign players, recommended by my scouts. Their price tag is affordable, thus my decision in signing them on, and I do hope they’ll make a difference in the team.
My first game was an away game to Blackburn. I didn’t do so well. I was trashed 4-0 and after the game, the board told me straight up-front it was an abysmal result.
I needed to tweak the team.
So the next game at home against Aston Villa, I changed the keeper and playing style.
I experiment with Direct style but yet retaining the same 4-4-2 formation. It went well. I won the game 3-1 but not without much opposition by the Villains.
Well the next game is coming up in days, I’ll blog about it again soon.
