Wigan to a flying start in FM2006

It’s another new season of Football Manager once again and I’m at the helm as the new unknown manager of Wigan Athletic FC.
Well as usual the media is predicting my chances of staying in the Premiership as slim to none.
But not to fret as I’ll prove them wrong eh. You know what; I always love the underdog team because it’s more challenging.
Managing a top-tier club is too easy. You have the cash and the players readily available. With the right tactic and training, you can just about win the league in your first season.
Now what I have in hand is a crappy team. I took a look at my team once I took over and sure enough they’re a pathetic bunch.
Well its player clearance time once again as I sold surplus players, and get that needed extra funds for my already small transfer kitty.
I was quite happy to be able to nab a few quality players. Albeit old, they’re still of use such as Marcelo Salas and Teddy Sheringham.
You’ll have to watch their condition however in your game as anything below 60%, its advisable you replace them.
I just love the starting frenzy of the opener season. Player to scout, giving them trial and the frenzy to buy the player before the other club does.
Once the transfer market is closed, it’s about fine-tuning the training and tactics. So far I’ve tweak it to my liking during the friendlies. It seems most of the goals conceded are those coming from the flanks.
I’ll need to bolster the defence with speedier wing-backs and train on their fitness/speed. Well on the next entry, I’ll share the matches I’ve had so far.
